If you are a tourer or freerider in search of an exceptional kick this summer, then the BIG-5 BIKE Challenge is definitely for you: For years now, the Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang lift company has offered a very special and unique highlight for the bike scene, the 5-Gondola Tour (a.k.a. the BIG-5 BIKE Challenge): 5,000 vertical meters are what it's all about, 1,000 in uphills, all the rest downhill. The "challengers" have five different lifts (specially modified to carry bikes) to aid them in their quest, a great way to spare your bike and your tired body from those arduous climbs. Once at the top, it's time for a laid-back ride back down via narrow trails (80 %) and gravel paths (20 %) all the way to the valley below.

The BIG-5 BIKE Challenge is being expanded this summer with the addition of new technology: Numerous checkpoints and snapshot stations punctuate the route through the imposing alpine world of the Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang region. Once you're back home, you'll have the opportunity to bring your tour into your own living room "virtually ", print it off in .pdf and even immortalize yourself in the Challengers Hall of Fame.  So, there's no better time than the present to begin training to get into perfect shape.
